Kenney’s Team: UCP Nomination Candidate helped author UCP’s most controversial policies; part of court challenge to Bill 24
EDMONTON – Marc Slingerland running for the UCP nomination in Cardston-Siksika shows that social conservative extremists in Alberta have found a new home in Kenney’s UCP.
As recently as 2015, Slingerland ran for the far-right fringe Christian Heritage Party[1]. By end of day tomorrow, Slingerland could be nominated as the UCP candidate. In his campaign literature he claims credit for controversial policies passed at the UCP Founding Convention on conscience rights, restricting abortion, privatizing healthcare and more.[2]
Slingerland is the principal of Calvin Christian School[3], which is part of a court challenge that alleges Gay-Straight Alliances are “Ideological Sex Clubs”.[4] Slingerland attended the most recent court date for this challenge and campaigned at the event.[5]
Kenney’s team is an alliance of extreme social conservatives and entitled political insiders – a combination that brings together only the worst of the former PC and Wildrose parties. It’s clear that this new party is not on the side of ordinary Albertans.
