Nicole Mooney nominated as NDP candidate in Innisfail-Sylvan Lake
SYLVAN LAKE – Nicole Mooney, a teacher and long-time advocate for the Central Alberta region, was nominated as the Alberta NDP’s candidate for the Innisfail-Sylvan Lake by-election.
“I’m running because I want to be Innisfail-Sylvan Lake’s voice in Edmonton,” said Mooney. “I want to make sure we have the teachers, schools and supports we need for our kids to have the best start in life and opportunities for a bright future.”
Mooney said she chose to join the Alberta NDP team because Premier Rachel Notley and the NDP caucus are on the side of everyday Albertans, standing up to calls for deep cuts to vital public services and cleaning up waste and corruption.
“The people of Innisfail-Sylvan Lake deserve a passionate, hard-working representative who will take action on the issues that matter to them,” said Rachel Notley, leader of Alberta’s NDP. “I’m proud that Nicole is stepping up to join our team and wish her the best of luck in her campaign.”
“Rachel and the NDP are investing in health care and protecting education, here in Innisfail-Sylvan Lake, and across Alberta,” said Mooney. “I’m looking forward to engaging with neighbours and community members about how the government can continue to fight for them and their priorities.”
