Reality Check – Conservatives Vote to Put Public Healthcare on Life Support
EDMONTON - Amidst calls from delegates to “bury the Canada Health Act” Conservative party delegates endorsed a motion to privatize our province’s healthcare. UCP members passed a policy that would “give Albertans the choice of privately-funded, privately delivered health services” along with their new healthcare vision that includes “private sector provisions”.
Conservatives have been trying to deny their plan to slash funding for healthcare and fire thousands of nurses for months now but today they announced their plan loud and clear. Their plan for healthcare would bring back the bad old days of queue jumping for wealthy conservative friends and insiders and sky-high fees for everyday families.
While they’re planning to make things easier for the wealthy they want to make everyday Albertans pay for it on their backs with big cuts to the services they relay on. Albertans deserve better than the same, tired, old plan for two-tiered American style healthcare they rejected last election and they’re getting better from Rachel Notley’s New Democrats.
